From November 2011 until September 2015 he was Senior Vice President and Head of the Education, Society, and Culture department at the Robert Bosch Foundation, with a large programmatic and financial portfolio. In October 2015, he became Director of Strategic Development/ Senior Vice President, responsible, inter alia, to develop a strategy to support education in Africa.
In 2016 Olaf became Founding Director and CEO of ESSA – Education Sub Saharan Africa, a social enterprise in the African tertiary education space (registered as a Charity in the UK).
In 2017/18, he served as the representative of the Private Foundations’ Constituency on the Strategy and Impact Committee of the Global Partnership for Education.
Olaf also works as strategy and business consultant. He is well travelled, especially in Africa, North America, and Asia.
Author of several publications and translations.
A German native, Olaf is also fluent in French, English, Polish and Italian.
